Writing a job advertisement
A job advertisement gives you the opportunity to attract the right candidates for the position. At the same time, it is important that the advertisement is not discriminatory or in breach of the rules on priority for re-employment.
1. What is the purpose of the ad?
Don't start from yourself, but from the person who will read it and how they will perceive it. The basis of a job advertisement is for the reader to find out more about the company, the position and the qualifications required for the job.
2. personalize your ad
Include a quote from another employee telling you what it is like to work for you. Or a quote from a manager. Also add the contact details of the closest manager such as union representatives or closest colleague.
3. controlling discriminatory elements
You must not include discriminatory elements in your advertisement, such as excluding gender, certain ages, disabilities, ethnicity or sexual orientation.
4. Preferential right to re-employment?
If there has been a reorganization in the past that has led to workers being dismissed due to lack of work, they may have a preferential right to re-employment.
