What is the purpose of a health and safety policy and how should it be written?

This is regulated in the Work Environment Act and the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulation AFS 2001:1

Section 5 of the Regulation states:

"5 § There shall be a work environment policy that describes how the working conditions in the employer's operations shall be in order to prevent ill health and accidents at work and to achieve a satisfactory work environment.

There must be procedures describing how systematic work environment management is to be carried out.

The health and safety policy and procedures shall be documented in writing if there are at least ten workers in the establishment."
